Astounding details raise the bar for pennant seekers with this thrilling c.1950s Boston Red Sox felt pennant. Made by Collegiate Manufacturing of Ames, IA, this arresting collectible would stand out at a Playboy Mansion pool party. Well-conceived features complement each other beautifully against an appropriate crimson red background. The left end of this 28x11 pennant is dominated by a Red Sox batter appliqué which features a raised uniform with puffed out socks, a 5” wood bat which fits nicely through a slot behind the hands and an opened can of baked beans in the batter’s pocket. City name lettering shades from orange-yellow to white and team nickname lettering outlined in white completes this genius piece of memorabilia. Generally this mesmerizing Red Sox supporter displays in excellent condition with negligible traces of wear on the design elements and only typical pinholes, minor curling of the point and moderate soiling on the completely intact white tassels. The reverse side label shows the name of the manufacturer and states, “felt used in this product is 70% wool 30% cotton”. Many years of combined hobby experience amongst the H&S staff confirm this observation: “Nope, ain’t seen one of those before”.
