Typical of unsold copies of the era the top 3” of the #4 issue were cut off. The color replica replacement is taped to the top of a black and white restoration which is attached to the balance of the cover. The color topper is not attached to the balance of the cover and will flap open to reveal the black and white restoration. The writing on the front is an unobtrusive “circled 4”, the Fantastic Four logo. The back cover has two small tears radiating from the top staple. Generally this example would be considered a reader copy, however due to the importance of the Sub-Mariner appearance this key issue remains important, as even coverless copies have realized significant sales figures.
The #7 issue presents as (GD) with deference to small tears on the front at the top staple. The top staple is possibly a replacement. Otherwise this early issue is appealing with bold cover colors, decent gloss and supple pages.
