Spun off from the enormously popular X-Men series, Marvel Comics scored another big hit with “The New Mutants”, a super-heroes in training team. Launched in 1983 this junior varsity squad is one of the leading Copper Age titles largely due to the introduction of the anti-hero character “Deadpool”. Demonstrate your mutant pride and collecting acumen by capturing this collection of (46) all different 1983-1991 The New Mutants comic books.
Highlighting this collection is the highly coveted issue #98 featuring the first appearance of Deadpool which presents minimally as (FN) and could grade as high as FN-VF+. Topping want lists for comics issued over the last thirty-five years, this key Copper Age issue retains fantastic gloss and color levels with clean, supple pages, and while the spine shows minor roll with a few unobtrusive cracks (which do not show color breaks) it remains tight and desirable. Other than the spine condition, only a small corner crease at top right prevents this example from reaching top tier status. Worth noting is the Deadpool character‘s appearance in the 2009 Wolverine film with Ryan Reynolds portraying the sword wielding bad-ass. Reynolds will revise the character in a 2016 film with Deadpool as the title character, which should send the value of this much sought after issue soaring above its already significant level.
Also present are (45) other New Mutant issues ranging in desirable grades of (FN to NM) with 80% VF and better, with: regular issue numbers: 4, 9, 19, 22, 24, 25, 31, 32, 33, 36, 40, 50, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 68, 69, 70, 72, 75, 76, 83, 86, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 99, 100; annuals: 1, 4, 6, 7; specials: Summer Special #1
